For this project, we had to do Discovery to Delivery. Following on from the above problem, we had to design the most suitable solution possible, taking into account the constraints given by Headspace and respecting the application's UI. Obviously, our solution also had to respect the application's UI.

Metrics to impact : + 25% conversion rate on LoL | DAU and time spent on page.

How might we convert more users to regular meditation practice ?

We were able to carry out a Benchmark to see what competing applications were offering in the way of user loyalty. But also to look at the very principle of meditation and why people embark on specific daily programs. As you can see below, we are interested in Petit Bambou, Meditopia and Calm, direct competitors of Headspace.

We've also looked at other applications that don't deal with meditation. Such as Respire, which focuses on breathing with cardiac coherence exercises, and Daylio, an app that lets you enter your mood each day to promote personal development, live healthier and reduce stress.

Following the Benchmark, we created a Mind Map, where we asked ourselves what Headspace evoked in us. Then, we conducted a Crazy 8 where initial ideas for solutions emerged.

THE SOLUTIONS

1# Rethink the Onboarding

Redesigned and shortened onboarding to make the experience more pleasant and less daunting, with fewer steps to complete on arrival.

Added 2 content customization screens to create a personalized homepage right from the first login, with content tailored to the user's needs.

Move it to the end of this phase and detail the different notifications, giving the user the opportunity to choose those that interest him most. To increase the chances of them adopting a meditation routine.

2# Personalization & Gamification

The exercises presented on the home page are tailored to the user's specific concerns and preferred work formats.

To encourage regular use of the application, we've introduced progress bars so that users can track their progress according to the exercises they've completed and the practices they've implemented.

3# The new Rescue Mode

Creation of a 'Rescue Mode', a feature dedicated to meeting the needs of users experiencing panic attacks.

This feature aims to offer immediate support while encouraging the continued adoption of meditation to promote mental well-being.

Rescue Mode' consists of two separate exercises. The first aims to establish cardiac coherence by synchronizing breathing with the movement of the circles.

At the end of this exercise, the '3:3' exercise promoting a connection with the senses.

Push Rescue Mode Widget for 1-click access in the event of a panic attack.

In order to test our solutions, we carried out user tests, so as to be able to iterate and find solutions better adapted to users' needs.

Thanks to my training at The Design Crew, I had the stimulating opportunity to work on this use case for the Headspace meditation app as a product designer. Although I didn't work directly with the company, this experience enabled me to develop a solid business vision while cultivating a deep empathy with users. By exploring themes such as meditation, I was able to feel closely connected to the user's needs. This approach, combining the business and human sides of design, represents an essential facet of my professional approach, and I look forward to continuing to apply these skills in future projects for creative pros.
